You Are Not a Mistake

Do you ever feel unloved or even unwanted? Do you feel that you have nothing to offer this world? Do you feel like you were a mistake?

If you have ever felt this way, let me assure you that you are not a mistake.

In 2007 as I stood looking at a photo album that belonged to a street minister, I flipped the page, and I saw a photo that had been taken in 2006 in Daytona of the word “Jesus” written in the clouds. My mind flashed back to the last time I saw “Jesus” written in the clouds. It was over 10 years earlier. This time I was standing in the street doing street ministry. Tears ran down my face as the Holy Spirit made it became abundantly clear to me that I was standing exactly where God intended me to be standing for that moment in time, and I was doing exactly what He wanted me doing.

Someone gave birth to you. Whether you know that person or not, God was in full control of the ability of that woman to have a child. God wanted you here. Consider the following verses.

And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
Genesis 29:31

And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.
Genesis 30:22

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.
1 Samuel 1:5

Not only had God known over 10 years earlier that I would be standing on the street looking at a photo album of a picture of the word “Jesus” written in the sky, but He had known that for a long time before I was born.

God knew you even before your mother became pregnant with you. Remember what Jeremiah was told?

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Jeremiah 1:4-5

Just like God had a plan for Jeremiah, God had a plan for your life too.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:8-10

You have an opportunity for everlasting life, and you are called unto good works. God knew exactly how He wanted to use you from even before you were conceived.

You were not a mistake. God always wanted you.

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to really think about the fact that God knew you before you were conceived. He knitted you together in your mother’s womb. He placed you there for a reason. No matter how unloved you may feel it does not change the fact that God loves you. He sent Jesus to die for you. Jesus beat death, and you can have eternal life when you accept Him as your savior. You are not worthless. If you have found yourself with an unplanned pregnancy, that child is not worthless either. That child was a gift of God.
