Where Does God Fit Into Your Life?

When I was a teenager, I would get all wrapped up in something. My time would be consumed with chasing after some goal that I had not prayed about or some project that was ill planned. Eventually, my attention would be off on something else. I had wasted my time, and I had regrets.

Of course nothing is ever a total waste of time. As I grew up, I learned to make better choices.

What about you? Have you ever felt like you wasted your time?

Sometimes what seems so important to us at one point in our lives may seem so trivial down the road at another. If you learn to prioritize, you will have fewer regrets. You will miss fewer opportunities.

One regret that I have is that I did not always spend time or spend enough time in my Bible when I was younger. If I had, I would have been better prepared for so many of the issues I faced over the years. I may have made better choices along the way. My walk with the Lord may have been different.

Believe it or not, there are answers in the Bible to things I never thought to question. If I had known those things and obeyed them I would have chosen differently in some of the biggest decisions of my life. Some of the turmoil in my life could have been avoided if I had only given God a bigger place in my life.

If only I had known what was in God’s Word and had sense enough to obey, part of my life would have been very different. I think it would have been a lot better!

Consider the choices of Mary and Martha.

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:38-42

Are you a Mary or a Martha?

I told you already that I was like Martha when I was younger. I did not place enough emphasis on the Word. Oh, to go back and be more like Mary! To sit at the feet of Jesus each day through the study of the Word of God is a privilege that we have today that previous generations did not always have. To be able to soak it up and apply it to your life can make all the difference.

I encourage you to be like Mary!

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to realize that every day you have a choice. You can spend some time in reading your Bible and praying, or you can skip that and spend all your time doing other things.

What will you do each day? Will you be like Martha and spend time on stuff? Will you be like Mary and make time for God? Where does God fit into your life?

The choice may seem obvious when asked. Living it is the challenge. I hope you will choose to be like Mary and spend a little time in your Bible and praying each day. It will make a difference.
