Several years back I decided to move my company in a little different direction from where I had been going. Actually, it would be more truthful to say that God had led me to change directions. I still did not have a full grasp on the vision, but I had a few goals.
Along came a know-it-all.
This well-meaning person’s vision for my company was upside down and backwards from where God wanted me. It would have put a strain on spending time with my family, and it would have taken me away from what God had for me to do. I would have been out of God’s will.
We all need a little help at one time or another. Brainstorming is always a good thing, but be careful when it crosses the line into exchanging your vision for a completely different one – theirs.
Whatever dream God has given you for your life, He gave it to you. He did not give it to someone else for you. If you let them, sometimes folks will get between you and it. You must remain focused, diligent, and dedicated to what God has given you to do. Be true to God’s plan for you.
For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
2 Thessalonians 3:7-14
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
When someone tries to tell you how to run your business, instead of minding theirs, remember that they are commanded to quietly do their own work. Then, keep following that vision God gave you for yours. Don’t let them pull you off course. Protect your dream.
LIFE APPLICATION
Key Focal Verse:
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1-2
Today’s challenge is to remember the plan God gave you for your life. Be protective of it, and stay on course as you work diligently toward achieving it for Him. Let the peace you have from God work through you to extend grace and patience to others when they meddle.
