How Deep Is Your Faith?

Have you ever doubted if you are saved even though you accepted Jesus as Savior and made that commitment to follow Him? Perhaps the doubt is more about you than about Jesus.

I used to have a hard time forgiving myself. Hence, I had a hard time believing that God could forgive me.

Maybe that’s where you stand today.

We talk about big sins and little sins. We talk about lies and white lies. It’s all sin, and it all separates us from God. However, Jesus paid for all your sins – big, little, past, present, and future.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1 John 5:4-6

We need to have faith. Jesus, the Son of God, came by water and blood – baptism and crucifixion. The Holy Spirit beareth witness to it.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:16-17

The Holy Spirit is our witness to the truth!

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
1 John 5:7-8

We have 3 witnesses in heaven. We have 3 witnesses on earth. Hold onto that thought.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1 John 5:9-10

With witnesses – the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost in heaven, and the water, the blood, and the Holy Spirit here – we have enough evidence to call it a record. What does it testify to exactly?

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1 John 5:11-13

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to listen to what God is telling you about your salvation. Know that God does not lie. Believe the witness of God over the witness of men – including your own self-doubt. Jesus paid it all.
