Christians in America – Turn the Key! Unlock the Healing

It’s easy for us to focus on our own personal problems. We can focus on who did us wrong. We can focus on what we don’t have. We can make life all about us. When we begin to do that we miss the bigger picture. We need to refocus.

What is the bigger picture about life here on earth?

Most of us could agree that America is not quite where we’d like her to be. When I turn on the news, I hear a member of one political party blaming the other for the mess we are in. Then I hear the have-nots blaming this or that group of the haves or vice-versa. Some folks want to make it all about race.

Don’t we really know what this is all about? It’s all about spiritual warfare, and it’s all about sin. It’s all a diversion to take our focus off Jesus. When we make it about us, we play right into that. When we make it about us, we view ourselves as the victim or the oppressed.

The truth, on the other hand, is that we as Christians hold the key to unlock the healing. This mess our country is in right now can be resolved, but it is up to the Christians to take action to do it.

What action would that be?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

This is to God’s people. It’s us that need to change. It’s us that can turn the key – the key being humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God, and turning from sin. When we do that, God will forgive us, and He will heal our land. The chastening will end.

God gave us the key. He told us what to do. What are we waiting for?

I believe some folks have been praying, humbling themselves, and seeking God, and repenting. I also believe that we as Christians are not yet where we need to be. We need to keep going, and we need to encourage other Christians to do the same.

I believe we are at a tipping point. Something is coming to America. Will it be violence? Will it be civil war? Will it be revival?

Consider the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
James 5:16-18

Pray Christians pray.

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is 2 Chronicles 7:14. The Bible told us to pray. Never think prayer is obsolete. We need to pray for revival, and we need to keep on praying. We need to repent, humble ourselves, and seek God. We need to have faith that if we do that that God is faithful to heal our land. This is the key to bringing change to America.

The solution is not about race, political party, or class. The solution is Christians turning back to God, and God reaching down in forgiveness, mercy, and grace. Remember, God is faithful.
