Making God Real in the Workplace

Have you ever wondered what the folks you work with believe? Could you make a list of everyone you work with and be able to say you know absolutely for sure what they believe about God? Are you sure you really know about the folks you think you know about?

Have you ever looked at the workplace as a great big missions field? It’s easy to think that the same folks you see every day believe what you think they believe, but unless you have ever asked them specific questions about their faith, you cannot know what they believe.

I used to think that if someone believed in Jesus that meant they were saved. The Bible tells us that even Satan believes in the existence of Jesus.

I used to think if someone accepted Jesus as God that meant they were saved. Some folks, those of the Hindu faith for example, worship so many gods they don’t mind adding one more to their collection. They’re not saved unless they forsake the rest and come to know the one true God.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6

I had someone tell me recently that they do not believe in Jesus, and yet they claim to hear God. I have no doubt they are hearing something, but other than a call to salvation they are not going to hear God like believers hear God.

Yes, many unbelievers have a Bible. Some of them know more about it than most believers, but they cannot understand all of it. It won’t make any sense to them because they do not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14

If you want to make God real in the workplace, the best way to do that is to bring God into the workplace. Imagine what it would be like to take a few minutes before work or at your first break to start your day with a devotional with other believers. Imagine what a difference it could make in your work environment as you start your day with Jesus.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:20

As unbelievers where you work ask you about what you are doing and why you are doing it, you will have an opportunity to share Jesus.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if everyone where you work were saved?

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

Our challenge today is to pray about starting a workplace Bible study. Don’t worry about what, when, where, and how just yet. For now, just ask God if He would have you to start one. If the answer is yes, your challenge will be to step out in faith and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
