I had a discussion recently with a very nice fellow. He came highly recommended, and he obviously spoke from experience. It was a good conversation, and I learned a lot by talking with him. However something bothered me about the whole thing.
If you had asked me what bothered me, I would have told you that I did not think like him on certain points, but that was not quite it. I would have told you that the conversation left me feeling a certain way, but describing it would have been a challenge.
Looking back on it, I think what really got me was that someone else was so sure of what would not work for me.
My abilities, value proposition, and whatever else I bring to the table had not really been discussed before the proclamation. No questions had been asked about how I planned to achieve it or even my expectations of when.
Think I was stereotyped? Who knows?
This morning, as I was reading in 2 Samuel 17, the words “for the Lord had appointed” jumped off the page.
Doesn’t that really sum up our lives?
When we surrender our path to God, what the Lord hath appointed is really all that matters. When we succeed in whatever He hath appointed – good or bad by our definition – we are a success!
What does God have planned for you today?
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
