Have More Confidence (Part 3)

Seeing God’s Provision –

We can have confidence in our work, ministry, and personal life that God will provide for whatever He has called us to do – even in times of tribulation.

In July 1999, I was a homeschool mom. Our boys were almost 8 and almost 10. The only sitters we used were my parents.

While I was on the phone with my dad one day, God told me that he was dying. I did not want to hear this. I added to it. I told myself that if I could get him to the hospital, he would be fine. I ignored all the stumbling blocks of having 2 children in tow. I went and helped my mom get him to the hospital. 4 days later, God told me again that he was dying. 3 days later, he died.

God’s mercy, grace, and provision are all over the details of this story.

  • Since God told me what was going on, the boys and I were able to spend most of the week with my dad. I treasure that week.
  •  The day I made the trip up there, I was exhausted by dinner. As my feet stepped off the curb, my older brother drove up and asked if we had eaten.
  •  A waiting room with glass (or partially glass) walls was diagonally across from Dad’s room. The boys had a place to be that was close by. I could see them from the door of Dad’s room.
  •  God used me to provide for my mom. He gave me the insight to see that she would need my help. When she was tired, I was able to sit with Dad and give her time to rest.
  •  Dad died peacefully. One of the last things he did while he was conversational was to call the boys, his grandchildren, over and tell them that he loved them.

What if I had not listened? What if I had been too concerned about a sitter? What if…

How many times in your life have you made an excuse when God told you to do something? Although that week was one of the hardest weeks of my life, God’s hand was all over it in more ways than I have mentioned here.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

There is that little word I love so much – ALL.

The biggest thing that I needed to know was that it was God’s sovereignty that he died the day that he did. The fact that God told me in advance not only gave me that week with my father, but it also gave me the comfort of knowing that there was nothing else that I could have done. That peace was a blessing.

LIFE APPLICATION

We can be confident that when God tells us to do something – even a hard something – that He will provide for it. We just need to walk in obedience. Pray about that one thing that God has placed on your heart to do. Then, step out in faith and do it. Have more confidence as you trust that He will provide for you too.

Your Big Challenge

Remember that having more confidence is important to your success. We can rely on God for all our needs in our business, ministry, and personal life as we walk in obedience in all areas.

Grow your confidence in each area by relying on God’s wisdom, sovereignty, and provision. Learn to listen more closely when you pray for His direction in all areas of your life. Seek God’s wisdom before you make a decision, and you will have confidence that you are making the right choice. Accept God’s sovereignty, and you will know that the issue is settled. You will have confidence that what He has told you to do is the best route to take. Believe that God will provide for what He asked you to do, and you will have confidence as you go along.
