Have you ever wondered why you are here?
Perhaps you do not feel you have found your purpose yet. Maybe you are new to the faith, and need some direction. Maybe life has you stressed out. Maybe you have become unemployed, and you have found it challenging to find a job.
What if I told you that I could give you one goal to focus on, and that the rest would fall into place?
For a nonbeliever, salvation is the starting point. For believers, a good place to start is to make your goal to glorify God.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
You can break this down further. You may have heard the phrase in real estate, “Location, location, location.” Think, “Relationship, relationship, relationship.”
The key relationship you need to focus on is obviously your relationship with the Lord.
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Luke 12:29-31
I realize that if your money is running low, and so are the groceries, having faith may seem like a lot to ask. Your goal is to grow your faith to the point that grace and peace carry you, and God gets the glory.
As you spend time with the Lord, He will show you the plan He has for your life. He will lead you.
We are given the commandment to love God. We are also commanded to love our neighbor. When it comes to loving others, we can focus on 2 different relationships.
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:34
Jesus specifically told us to love each other. When the lost see how believers love one another differently – more so – than the world loves them, God gets the glory.
We are to reach out to the lost.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:19-20
Work on your witnessing.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1 Peter 3:15
What greater love can we show to the lost than to share Jesus with them? Again, God gets the glory.
Did you notice? It all points to God, and not you!
LIFE APPLICATION
Key Focal Verse:
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Today’s challenge is to ask God to help you realize that the only reason you are here is for Him. You are here to love, serve, and be used by Him. Ask God to show you how.
