Some of us work w-a-y too hard. Life just breezes by. Every now and then, we just need to stop and look around. On one of those days . . . where I stopped to “play”, I left all my inhibitions aside for just long enough to be silly and give myself a 24 hour reminder of it all. You ever have one of those moments where you think – it could only happen to me!?!
For years I have wanted to be “professional” and not write on my hand. It is one of those vanity things. Lately I have found that no matter where I am, I am without paper. Now those phone numbers and details that wind up on the palm of my hand always wash off faster than I can find any paper!! It becomes incredibly challenging to try to read the faint ink on my palm after about 2 hand washings.
So wanting to have a blast with the boys – now teenagers, and finding myself without any “toys” – I decided to harass them – all in fun of course – by resorting to writing on my hand. Yes, I was silly. I drew a face and used it like a puppet! I admit it, there is a part of me that will do just about anything for a laugh! Yes, they laughed! They thought I had “lost it” – well, maybe not, they have gotten kinda use to my doing stuff like that – but they laughed!
This was all well and good, except that the pen I picked up was somewhat more permanent than the previous pens! It did not wash off! It took 24 hours to “wear” it off – it could only happen to me, right!?! LOL – You gotta laugh! We all did!
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
– Proverbs 17:22
While you are working hard, don’t forget your family! Build those relationships, even if you have to be silly! One day, you will be glad you did!
